Akalaris’ Tribe
Following the Fall of Auir to the Zerg, the multitude of the Protoss faced the cataclysmic annihilation of their homeworld and their people. The Templar caste, led by the Praetor Artanis and his counterpart, the Prelate Zeratul, alongside the Judicator Aldaris, the Executor, the previous Praetor Fenix, and the Terran Raynor rescued as many survivors of the Khalai caste as they could, then began their exodus to the Dark Templar homeworld of Shakuras.
They did not rescue as many of the Khalai as they could have, for the sole reason that many of them were not willing to abandon Aiur, choosing instead to stand on their broken homeworld and attempt to quell the ravaging Zerg. However, without their warrior Templar to protect them, or their Conclave to lead them, the Khalai were unable to provide much of a resistance to the enraged Zerg.
Despite their unwillingness to flee Aiur, they had no problem in fleeing the Zerg to other provinces of their world, so long as they remained upon it. They eventually settled in the province of Scion, the site of the Battle of Scion, were the Executor’s forces were successful in blasting the Zerg from it.
These Khalai remnants found that another faction of Protoss had already arrived ahead of them; the Judicator Akalaris and his escort. The last remaining Judicator of the Conclave on Aiur, he naturally became the leader of the scattered Protoss remnants. Despite his position as a former Judicator of the Conclave that persecuted Tassadar, Akalaris holds the fallen Templar in the highest reverence.
When the release of the blast of Dark energy that came from the corruption of the Khaydarin crystals placed within Aiur’s Xel’Naga Temple, the Khalai began their slow transformation into that which they feared and despised most; Dark Templar.
Akalaris was undaunted by this transformation, even considering it a blessing. Keeping in mind the example of the fallen Tassadar, he chose to preach the principle of unity to his charges. However, he believed that Tassasdar simply used the might of the Dark Templar as a tool, and that in his heart he kept to the true Templar values.
So now, on Aiur, there exists a tribe of Protoss with the powers of the Dark Templar, but the hearts of pure ones.
Fanatical and devoted, these Protoss are set to scar the broken world of Aiur once more.
